Harvey received his J.D. at Boston University in 1974, and his B.A. at Clark University in 1968. He established his
own law firm in 1977. Harvey united forces with Maureen O'Sullivan and Jeremiah Friedman to form KAPLAN,
O'SULLIVAN & FRIEDMAN in 1990. He has taught at Northeastern University School of Law since 1982. He has also
taught immigration law at Harvard Law School. Harvey has been named in Best Lawyers in America from 1991-present,
and was the recipient of the American Immigration Lawyers Association's (AILA) first Mentor Award in 1992. Harvey
has received multiple awards from the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild for excellence in the
practice of immigration law (the Third Annual Carol King Award and, together with partners Maureen O'Sullivan and
Jeremiah Friedman, the Daniel Levy Award in 2007). In 2002 he received, along with Maureen O'Sullivan, AILA's 2002
Elmer Fried Award for excellence in teaching immigration law. Recently, Harvey has been recognized for his commitment
and dedication to immigrant workers and families affected by the raids in New Bedford, MA, receiving a Certificate of
Appreciation from the Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, and
an Outstanding Immigration Lawyer Award from the Brazilian Immigrant Center.
Maureen O'SullivanPartner
Maureen received her L.L.M. from Harvard Law School in 1986 and her J.D. from Antioch School of Law in 1981. Maureen has
been a partner at KOF from 1990 to the present time. She is a frequent speaker at immigration law training seminars, and
has taught immigration and refugee law at Northeastern University School of Law since 1987. She has previously taught at
the Franklin Pierce Law Center and Boston College. Maureen has been named in Best Lawyers in America from 1994- present.
She received the American Immigration Lawyers Association's (AILA) Mentor Award in 1994 and the Boston Political Asylum
Immigration Representation Project's Mentor Award in 1992 and 1999. From 1982 through 1985, Maureen was the Director of
the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild. She was previously an Officer of the New England Chapter
of AILA (Chair 1993-1994, Vice-Chair 1991-1992, Secretary 1990-1991), and she remains an active member. Maureen, along
with partner Harvey Kaplan, received AILA's 2002 Elmer Fried Award recognizing excellence in teaching immigration law.

Jeremiah FriedmanPartner
Jerry received his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 1986, and his M.S. in Labor Relations in 1979 from
the University of Massachusetts. In 1976, Jerry received his B.A. in Economics at Clark University. He has been a partner
with KOF from 1990 to the present time. Before becoming a lawyer, Jerry was a Business Agent for the Bay State Council,
Retail Wholesale Department, State/Union, AFL-CIO from 1979-1983. He was an organizer with the Service Employees
International Union, AFL-CIO, Local 495 from 1975-1978. Jerry is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association
as well as the National Lawyers Guild, and has been named in Best Lawyers in America from 2000-present. In 2002, he received
the Detention Panel Attorney Award from the Political Asylum Immigration Representation Project. Together with partners
Harvey Kaplan and Maureen O'Sullivan, Jerry received the 2007 Daniel Levy Award of the National Immigration Project of
the National Lawyers Guild in recognition of excellence in the practice of immigration law. He has particular expertise
in the immigration consequences of criminal convictions and is frequently consulted on this topic.
